March is a time to celebrate the impact of women across the globe. International Women’s Month is more than a reflection on history—it’s a call to action, recognizing those who have pushed boundaries, led movements, and created lasting change.
This month, I want to bring attention to the many women—particularly those from historically excluded populations—who step into leadership roles not just to break barriers but to build something lasting. Too often, organizations are eager to bring in a woman leader to signal change, yet fail to provide the necessary support, resources, and authority to truly succeed. Instead of setting a foundation for women to succeed, they are placed in high-risk situations, expected to solve systemic issues with little room to lead effectively.
Cracked Ceilings, Fragile Ground
On March 15, I officially launched my book, Cracked Ceilings, Fragile Ground, to unpack these challenges and offer real strategies for change. This book delves into the experiences and challenges of individual leaders while providing a roadmap and essential tools for organizations to break the cycle of inadequate preparation and support—ensuring transformational leaders have what they truly need to succeed.. Keep in mind that leadership should be a space for innovation and creativity, where power is an integral part of the role.
International Women’s Month is the perfect time to have this conversation. It’s time to recognize the patterns and, more importantly, work together to change them.

NEWS & EVENTS
Women Uplifting Women: A Women's History Month Celebration
Attending Hope Horizon East Palo Alto's first Ladies High Tea during Women's History Month was truly a transformative experience. The event embodied the month's spirit of female solidarity, empowerment, and collective action for positive change.
I was moved by Dara Treseder's compelling address on intentional living and the strength we find in unity—her words touching everyone in attendance. The wisdom of Pastor Juanita Bynum came to mind: "When your cup overflows, it spills into the saucer," perfectly capturing the atmosphere of abundance and shared energy that filled the room.
I felt both refreshed and grounded in my sense of purpose, carrying forward the legacy of supportive women's spaces that have driven progress throughout history.

Celebrating Black Women Leaders: A Panel on Rest & Well-Being at Chief
On February 20th, I was invited by Mary Yukari Hodges at Chief to moderate the "Reclaiming Rest: Black Women in Executive Leadership and Creating Cultures of Well-Being" panel and it was an absolute honor to facilitate such a powerful conversation. The discussion highlighted the critical importance of rest and well-being for Black women executives while exploring ways to foster more supportive organizational cultures.
Thank you to Braughnwynn "Bibi" Brown, M.B.A.Attica Alexis Jaques, Lucia Hicks-Williams, for being the guest speakers at this event and for your candid insights and wisdom.

CEN 30th Anniversary Event
The Center for Excellence in Nonprofits (CEN) 30th Anniversary "Shining Bright Benefit" was an unforgettable evening filled with meaningful connections. It was a joy to gather with leaders, friends, and funders—all who have either have supported or endorsed over the years. The room was filled with energy, gratitude, and a shared commitment to strengthening the nonprofit sector.
When it was time for joyful giving, Dee Dee Kiesow brought her signature energy and warmth, turning the auction into an exciting and celebratory experience. Her ability to engage the crowd, spark generosity, and make giving fun added an extra layer of excitement to an already incredible evening.
I loved celebrating this milestone with such an amazing community!
